With 63% of households owning a pet, one of the most frequently asked questions is, “What type of flooring is best for my pet?” While we know that we can rule out carpet due to pet accidents, sharp nails, and allergens that accumulate, it can be difficult to decide on an option that meets your needs and budget. Below are our top three flooring choices for your furry friends.
Vinyl. As the most resistant type of flooring, final is the top choice for dogs and cats. Vinyl flooring comes in so many styles that you’re guaranteed to find one that you like. It rarely gets noticeable scratches or tears, and the moisture resistance makes it very easy to clean. It is also a lot more comfortable and quieter for paws (and feet) than other types of flooring.
Linoleum. Linoleum offers the same benefits as vinyl. Cleaning is easy, it is moisture resistant, and it is hypoallergenic. This choice is below vinyl only because it needs slightly more maintenance when you have a household with pets, such as being waxed and polished.
Tile. If you were only interested in your comfort, tile would be the best option overall. This flooring is very low maintenance, moisture resistant, and easy to clean. However, it can be cold and hard for your pets (especially dogs) to walk on. If you go with tile or stone, it is recommended that pets have their own special beds or rugs to lay on.
